The bodywork might grab all the attention, but inside every car there are tiny pieces of metal that are every bit as important to its success and we will help you to make them. Crossen Engineering produces small electrical connectors for use in sensors, cameras and other electrical components, and has the know-how to engineer any metal part, no matter how small.
Based on our knowledge of the challenges of small-scale metal forming, our team will offer guidance on design and material selection to ensure finished components meet your exact specification.
The flexibility in our production processes allows for high volume manufacturing. We have invested in state-of-the-art automation machinery to increase our capacity to around 200,000 parts per week.
All tooling and manufacturing are completed at our premises outside Belfast, N. Ireland, which helps to avoid delays in production and gives you more control over the process.
We are experienced in engineering to the latest automotive standards. That includes designing, defining, and documenting all specifications and processes in accordance with the PPAP.
Sensata Technologies manufactures electronic sensors for use in automotive parts. One of its key products is a sensor used to monitor tyre pressure in cars. We were tasked with engineering a small electrical connector for use in its circuits.
There was a demand for the highest quality in order to meet the exacting standards needed for automotive components. The part was to be manufactured at a volume of 25,000 parts per day and using production processes capable of sustaining high volume production. We invested in automation machinery to ensure we could meet and maintain the production quantities needed.
After working with Sensata Technologies’ design team on their material selection, we decided on brass with a nickel coating, which was suited to their assembly process and product specification. We also worked with one of our carefully selected raw material suppliers to understand forming this specific grade.
Our production processes followed all the requirements needed for the component to achieve Production Part Approval Process standards, giving both Sensata Technologies and its clients in the automotive industry confidence in the quality and safety of our components, which are supplied ready for use on Sensata Technologies’ assembly lines.
